This summer, the Mass Department of Transportation will be working to replace the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge over the Massachusetts Turnpike and MBTA Commuter Rail line.

This reconstruction project will impact traffic on Commonwealth Avenue July 27 through August 14, 2017. Additionally, I-90 will be brought down to two lanes in each direction from 7/28 at 9pm to 8/7 at 5am. As a result, traffic is expected to increase by 50% during peak hours.

Vehicular traffic will be prohibited in certain zones of Commonwealth Avenue during this time, with access maintained for pedestrians, cyclists, MBTA buses, EMS and BU essential vehicles. A replacement shuttle bus service along Comm Ave will be available from 7/27-8/14 (free of charge).
