Our Class Levels are UNIQUE to CRA. For that reason, evaluations are mandatory for all new swimmers thought to be in levels 2 and above. Please review our level descriptions below and then REQUEST AN EVALUATION by emailing EVALUATIONS@CHARLESRIVERAQUATICS.COM should you deem it necessary. By registering for a class, we assume you have read this information and agree to abide by it.

CLASS SIZE: 10

DURATION: 1/2 HOUR

Tiny Tots is a class for children between 6 months and 3-yrs-old.

The aim of Tiny Tots is for small children to gain comfort in the water while in the arms of a parent or caregiver, someone he or she knows and trusts. Children between 3 and 3 1/2 may take this class if they are very nervous without a parent in the pool with them. (Please be sure to check the age on the registration site as ‘under 3’ during enrollment.) An adult MUST accompany the child in the pool and all children are required to wear swim diapers (unless completely toilet trained).

Games, songs, and activities are designed to help children become more comfortable in the pool while engaging in some essential swimming precursor skills. During the class, the instructor will provide information about safe ways to get into the pool with an infant, how to keep infants more comfortable in the water, and appropriate ways to teach swimming precursor skills. Parents/caregivers and infants are able to socialize with other parents/caregivers and infants during the class.

The goal of this class is not to “drown-proof” infants, as infants cannot be drown-proofed, nor is it to teach infants to swim. We strive to use music, movement, and repetition of skills to increase comfort in the water and introduce water safety concepts and the elements that make the foundation of swimming that will be beneficial when a child has the strength and cognition to be ready to learn to swim.

New Swimmers Are Welcome!

Evaluations are mandatory for new swimmers thought to be in level 2 or higher.

We highly recommend the following placement into our program for newcomers.

Age 3: Please place in Splash Class

Charles River Aquatics has done extensive research on 4 and 5-year-old children that were new to our program. All 4-year-olds and 95% of 5-year-olds who are with us the first time have been evaluated as Level 1 swimmers. Therefore, if you are NEW and your child is ages 4-5, we recommend that you sign your child up as a Level 1 swimmer.

You may request an evaluation for any 6-year-old and older child that you believe may belong in Level 2 or higher by emailing EVALUATIONS@CHARLESRIVERAQUATICS.COM.
