Group Instructional Swim Lessons

A Comprehensive Approach to the Development of Proper Technique

Distinctive in approach, instruction at Charles River Aquatics emphasizes proper technique as a solid foundation for the development of strong, safe, efficient swimmers.   

Specific skills define each instructional level in CRA’s unique approach. In this cumulative curriculum, instructors focus on achievement of these milestones in the development of technique for advancement. On-deck coaching support, small class sizes, and detailed progress notes yield individualized instruction with proven results.

All CRA Instructors are provided extensive and ongoing training in the CRA approach and philosophy guaranteeing a high-quality consistent experience for students.  The positive, encouraging environment, coupled with a cumulative, tiered curriculum, fosters individual growth and achievement, motivating students to strive for excellence while emphasizing cooperation and sportsmanship, assuring swimmers achieve their goals in the water.

YOUTH INSTRUCTIONAL GROUP PROGRAMS

Weekly half hour youth instructional group programs are offered 7 days a week September - May.

  • Summer Session June, July & August

4 days per week, MON-THU, lesson sessions are offered June - August.

COST:

  • School Year Season, SUN September 10, 2023 - SAT May 26, 2024

$140 per month/per option

  • Summer Session June, July & August

$140 per 4 day session

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Arrive dressed ready to swim
  • Level 3+ swimmers are required to wear a swim cap although we encourage all swimmers to wear them
  • Goggles
  • Towel

SCHOOL YEAR SEASON REGISTRATION:

  • CRA School Year Season Weekly Group Lessons run consecutively (blackout dates-click to view calendar) SUN September 10, 2023 through SUN May 26, 2024
  • Join the CRA Instructional Swim Program at any time during the School Year Season.  Enroll for your preferred class and you will be charged for the following month and begin swimming on or after the first of the following month (disregard the start date generated by the registration system).
  • Your enrollment will continue through the entire season and you will be automatically charged each month unless you ask to discontinue by emailing registrar@charlesriveraquatics.com.  30 days notice required.
  • CRA does not offer make-up lessons or credits for missed lessons.

PLEASE NOTE: Monthly tuition represents an average monthly cost based on the total number of lessons offered during the School Year Season.

SUMMER SEASON REGISTRATION:

  • Pick your lesson session(s) and pay per enrollment.

TEEN BEGINNER GROUP INSTRUCTIONAL SWIM LESSONS

Teen Beginner Lessons are designed for youth ages 12-17 wishing to improve technique and confidence in the water.  Instruction is in small groups with similar skill levels ranging from beginner through intermediate.

NOTE: Spectators are not permitted during any instructional or team programming.

  • Lessons are 60 minutes each
  • Instructors teach in water and from deck

Teen Beginner Crash Course

Calling All Teen Beginners!  Ready to learn this important life skill?  Ready to be confident and safe in the water?

These short courses are designed for all teen beginner or intermediate swimmers.

NOTE: Spectators are not permitted during any instructional or team programming.

SUMMER 2024 INSTRUCTIONAL SWIM

Intensive 4-day sessions, Monday-Thursday.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Summer Group Lessons are open to all swimmers ages 4+.

All swimmers are evaluated upon arrival for the first lesson and instruction is provided at an appropriate individual level. 

LESSON INFORMATION:

  • 30 minutes in length
  • All lessons are taught in the Teaching Pool
  • Groups of 5 swimmers maximum to 1 instructor
  • Instructors teach from deck

COST:

$140/4 day session

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • YOUTH swimmers should arrive dressed to swim.Changing rooms are open to all YOUTH swimmers at the conclusion of each lesson.  
  • All swimmers must wear goggles.
  • Swim caps are encouraged for all swimmers and required for those in Level 3 and above.
  • CRA does not offer make ups or prorating for missed classes. Click here for CRA Policies.
  • The School Year Season runs through SUN May 26, 2024. Your enrollment will continue through May 26, 2024 and you will be automatically billed monthly UNLESS you ask to discontinue with 30 days notice.
  • The monthly price for your program has been averaged out through the School Year Season and remains the same whether you have 2, 3, 4 or 5 lessons in a month. Click here for our Blackout Calendar.
  • Per CRA Policy, spectators are not permitted at any instructional programming or team practices.  Only staff, students and team athletes are permitted in the pool area.  

ARRIVAL PROCEDURE:

  • Please park in a legal parking spot (cars parked illegally in a handicapped spot or the emergency lanes risk being towed), enter through the main entrance and proceed to the end of the hall then take a left after the desk. On the left you will find the double glass doors to the pool. 5 minutes prior to the start of your program, queue up outside of the double glass doors to the pool.  Please do not enter the wet corridor.
    • Staff will open the doors at the start of each program, at which point swimmers will enter the pool area.
    • ONLY swimmers and staff are allowed past the doors into the pool area.

PLEASE NOTE: 

ONLY ATHLETES AND STAFF ARE ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA - WE DO NOT ALLOW SPECTATORS.

PICK UP PROCEDURE:

  • To collect swimmers at the conclusion of a program, park in a legal parking spot (cars parked illegally in a handicapped spot or the emergency lanes risk being towed), enter the facility and queue up outside of the double glass doors at the end of the wet corridor (the point of drop off).  Do not enter the wet corridor.
    • Staff will open the doors at the end of each program, at which point you may meet your swimmer and connect with staff about your swimmer’s progress.   
    • Parents/guardians wishing to assist young swimmers in the Family Changing Room may enter the wet corridor when staff signal that the program has concluded and it is okay to do so.  Parents/guardians may then accompany swimmers into the changing room.
    • No one may linger in the wet corridor at any time.

YOUTH STUDENTS CAN EXPECT:

  • Group Lesson Instructors in the water for Splash and Level 1.
  • Group Lesson Instructors for Level 2 and 3 will be in and out of the water dependent on the skill at hand.
  • Group Lesson Instructors for Levels 4+ and Technique & Training Tune Up (T3U) teaching from deck, but will be ready to jump in as needed for demonstration or support.

At Charles River Aquatics (CRA) the health and safety of our patrons and staff is of the utmost importance. Per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, if you have a communicable disease, you may not swim. Please stay home if you are not feeling well. Your adherence to this policy is essential to the health and safety of everyone. Thank you!
